Groworld is a growth medium based on wood which is applicable with tomato, cucumber and pepper production. Groworld growing mats can be used in the same cultivation regimes as existing rock wool or coconut substrates. Groworld has been tested in several nurseries during the past three years. So far Groworld has either given better or equal results on matters regarding harvest output, fruit size and sweetness (brix value tested on tomatoes) than the best quality of rock wool and coconut fiber substrates.
Our test so far has shown that Groworld is more efficient than Rockwool in terms of harvest output, fruit size and sweetness (brix value tested on tomatoes). Rockwool origins from stone and have a large carbon emission when produced, furthermore it is expensive to dispose. Groworld is a biological product based on wood fibers from FSC certified forestry. Groworld is produced with a very low climate footprint - produced with less energy and the energy emerged from residues in a lumber production. Groworld can take part of the circular bio-economy after use - i.e. for green energy - and further down the line it can be composted with the plant residues.
Groworld is a uniform growing media and of a more consistent quality than coconut fiber which can differ in weight and structure. Groworld is easy to handle and control so it can take part of most systematic growing regimes.
When coconut substrates are produced it is necessary to use chemicals to remove NaCI from the coconut fibers. Groworld is solely based on wood fibers from FSC certified forestry so further down the line it can be composted with the plant residues. Groworld is produced in Europe and does not need long transportation from Sri Lanka - therefore Groworld is more climate neutral.
